1964: "Undercroft Church of Ascension Parish, Kettering, is reached through the entrance shown here. The basement structure, which in time will become the foundation for a permanent church, seats about 980 persons in a semi-circular nave. None of the pews is more than 75 feet from the sanctuary. A school hall, where church services formerly were held, now provides space for three classrooms and a meeting hall, bringing the number of classrooms in the school to 32. Bishop Paul F. Leibold blessed the new building on July 14. Father Arnold F. Witzman is the pastor. Architect for the new church was Robert L. Holtzmeier, Cincinnati; the contractor, B.G. Danis, Dayton."
