Circular Baptistry

1961: “Holy Angels Church, at Madison and Grandin roads, Cincinnati, has a new front, distinguished by a circular baptistry. Nine slender windows for the nine choirs of angels pierce the walls of the baptistry and a tall bronze cross rises from the center of its roof. To the right of the baptistry and extending across the front of the church are tinted glass panels.

“The building, erected in 1920, is the second church of the parish, which was founded in 1859. The original church, which was located a few blocks away on Torrence Court, was torn down in 1938. The present rectory is the century-old home of Joseph B. Foraker, who was Governor of Ohio from 1886 to 1890 and served as U.S. Senator from 1896 to 1909.” (The Catholic Telegraph, February 3, 1961)

I have never seen a photo of that building before!

It is sad that this church had to close. I believe that the late Msgr. Robert Amman was the last Pastor.
