1960: “Six months' work of a young artist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, on his off-duty time, was presented to St. Helen's Church, Dayton, for display in the vestibule of the new church. In the picture above, Father James Krusling, pastor, is shown accepting the oil painting pf Pope John XXIII and Archbishop Karl J. Alter from the artist, Staff Sergeant David Addison, a member of St. Helen's Parish.Sergeant Addison, assigned with the art section of the orientation group at WPAFB, the official display unit of the U.S. Air Force, painstakingly reproduced the faces and robes of the Pope and Archbishop from photographs.” (The Catholic Telegraph-Register, March 25, 1960)
