Catholic Convalescent Home is Established

1944: “Establishment of a Catholic convalescent home in Westwood, Cincinnati, has been made possible by a gift to the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati from Mrs. Hanna V. Feltes in memory of her husband, the late George H. Feltes. The gift made possible the purchase of the former Hope Haven, Glenmore Avenue, Westwood, as well as the necessary reconditioning of the buildings and their complete equipment for convalescent care.

“The reconditioning is about completed and the buildings will be ready for occupancy within the next 30 days. At that time the buildings, property and equipment will be transferred to the Sisters of St. Dominic of St. Mary's of the Springs, Columbus, who have been selected by the Most Rev. Archbishop John T. McNicholas to conduct the institution. The name of the home will be The St. George.

“In making the announcement the Catholic Charities declared that the convalescent home will supply a serious need for such an institution in Cincinnati. (See The Catholic Telegraph-Register, April 28, 1944)
